Sand Blasted

Today, we already crossed the border between Mauritania and Western Sahara/Morocco.

Our stay in Mauritania was very short due to the good tarmac roads in this country. The border crossings from Senegal to Mauritania yesterday and from Mauritania to Morocco today were both slow but uneventful. The Land Rovers were properly sand blasted today by a low level sand storm that lasted all day. We are staying in a hotel in the desert not far from the border.

Tomorrow we’ll start our long drive north across Western Sahara and into southern Morocco. The good tarmac road is perfectly straight around here and the landscape is almost featureless desert with very few inhabited areas. It’s a bit of monotenous drive.
